오랜만에 성경 가운데서도 내가 가장 좋아 하는 욥기를 한국어 영어 라틴어 스페인어로 읽고 나니
감사한 마음이 절로 들었다. 내가 존재하고 있다는 사실만으로도 지극히 높으신 하느님께 감사한
마음이 절로 영혼 깊은 데서 흘러나왔다.
열심히 살아야 하고 주어진 존재의 시간 앞에서 부지런한 마음, 겸손한 마음과 정결한 영혼으로
충실되게 하루 하루를 살아내야만 한다고 생각을 했다.
내 모든 존재의 이유와 사랑이셨던 아빠가 돌아가신지도 어언 6주 즉 한달 반이 되었다.
그저 꿈만 같고 아련하며 가슴시리게 아빠는 내 영혼 깊이 함께 존재하고 계시며 살아계시다.
묵묵히 살아냈다.
모두들 와서 끌어 안아주고 위로 해주고 하는 같은 문화속에서 살아가는 이방인들 피부와
인종과 배경이 다른 동료들 그러나 인간이란 공통분모를 갖고 살아가는 사람들의 향기가
그래도 감사했다,.
비록 사랑하는 아빠는 떠나셨지만 아빠가 나에게 보여주신 절대적인 사랑과 가르침 즉
사람은 나이가 먹고 늙어가도 계속 배우고 공부를 해야 한다는 말씀을 잊지 못한다.
어저께 밤 한국 불교방송 BTN울림을 만나 법문도 들었고 글도 읽었고 법정 스님의
살아 생전에 남기신 법문을 만나기도 했다.
그리고 이 아침 단 한줄이라도 정결한 마음으로 욥기와 창세기를 영어, 한국어, 라틴어와
스페인어로 읽고 나니 내면이 차분해지고 또 차분해지는 느낌을 영혼 깊이 충만하게
담고 또 담아 내면서 절로 또한 무한한 감사하는 마음을 마주하게 되었다. 이 하나로
오늘의 일상과 삶은 충분하다.
욥기 제 1장 한글과 영어

우스라는 곳에 한 사람이 있었는데 그의 이름은 욥이었다. 그는 완전하고 진실하며 하느님을 두려워하고 악한 일은 거들떠보지도 않는 사람이었다.
2
그의 슬하에는 아들 일곱과 딸 셋이 있었다.
3
그에게는 양이 칠천 마리, 낙타가 삼천 마리, 겨릿소가 오백 쌍, 암나귀가 오백 마리나 있었고 종들도 매우 많았다. 그는 동방에서 으뜸가는 사람이었다.
4
그의 아들들은 번갈아 가며 자기 집에서 잔치를 차리고 세 누이도 불러다가 함께 먹고 마셨다.

이런 잔치가 한차례 돌아가고 나면 욥은 그들을 불러다가 몸과 마음을 깨끗이 하게 하고 아침 일찍이 그들 하나하나의 몫으로 번제를 드렸다. 아들들이 속으로 죄를 짓고 하느님께 욕을 돌렸을지도 모를 일이었으므로 그렇게 했던 것이다. 욥이 하는 일은 언제나 이러하였다.
야훼께서 사탄에게, "그래, 너는 내 종 욥을 눈여겨보았느냐? 그만큼 온전하고 진실하며 하느님을 두려워하고 악한 일은 거들떠보지도 않는 사람은 땅 위에 다시 없다." 하고 말씀하시자,

사탄이 야훼께 아뢰었다. "욥이 어찌 까닭 없이 하느님을 두려워하겠습니까?
10
당신께서 친히 그와 그의 집과 그의 소유를 울타리로 감싸주시지 않으셨습니까? 그가 손으로 하는 모든 일에 복을 내려주셨고 그의 가축을 땅 위에 번성하게 해주시지 않으셨습니까?
11
이제 손을 들어 그의 모든 소유를 쳐보십시오. 그는 반드시 당신께 면전에서 욕을 할 것입니다."
12
야훼께서 사탄에게 이르셨다. "좋다! 이제 내가 그의 소유를 모두 네 손에 부친다. 그러나 그의 몸에만은 손을 대지 마라." 이에 사탄은 야훼 앞에서 물러 나왔다.
13
하루는 욥의 아들과 딸들이 맏형의 집에 모여서 잔치를 벌이고 있었는데,

한 심부름꾼이 욥에게 뛰어와서 고하였다. "소는 밭을 갈고 나귀는 그 근처에서 풀을 뜯고 있었는데
15
스바 사람들이 달려들어 모두 약탈해 갔습니다. 그리고 그들은 일꾼들을 모조리 칼로 쳐죽였는데 저만 가까스로 살아 남아서 이렇게 말씀드리러 왔습니다."

그가 채 말을 마치기도 전에 또 한 사람이 와서 고하였다. "하늘에서 벼락이 떨어져 양떼와 일꾼들을 모두 살라버렸습니다. 저만 가까스로 살아 남아서 이렇게 말씀드리러 왔습니다."

그의 말이 채 끝나기도 전에 또 한 사람이 와서 고하는 것이었다. "갈대아 사람 세 무리가 달려들어 낙타떼를 모두 약탈해 가고 일꾼들을 칼로 쳐죽였습니다. 저만 가까스로 살아 남아서 이렇게 말씀드리러 왔습니다."

그의 말이 채 끝나기도 전에 또 한 사람이 와서 고하였다. "주인님의 자녀분들이 맏형님의 집에 모여서 먹고 마시는데
19
광야에서 모진 바람이 불어와 그 집 네 모퉁이를 쳐서 무너뜨렸습니다. 젊은이들은 모두 깔려 죽었고 저만 가까스로 살아 남아서 이렇게 말씀드리러 왔습니다."
20
그제야 욥은 일어나 겉옷을 찢고 머리를 깎았다. 그리고는 땅에 엎드려

입을 열었다. "벌거벗고 세상에 태어난 몸, 알몸으로 돌아가리라. 야훼께서 주셨던 것, 야훼께서 도로 가져가시니 다만 야훼의 이름을 찬양할지라."
22
이렇게 욥은 이 모든 일을 당하여 죄를 짓지 않았고 하느님을 비난하지도 않았다.

Seven sons and three daughters were born to him;

and he had seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred she-asses, and a great number of work animals, so that he was greater than any of the men of the East.

His sons used to take turns giving feasts, sending invitations to their three sisters to eat and drink with them.

And when each feast had run its course, Job would send for them and sanctify them, rising early and offering holocausts for every one of them. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned and blasphemed God in their hearts." This Job did habitually.

One day, when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, Satan also came among them.

And the LORD said to Satan, "Whence do you come?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming the earth and patrolling it."

And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you noticed my servant Job, and that there is no one on earth like him, blameless and upright, fearing God and avoiding evil?"

But Satan answered the LORD and said, "Is it for nothing that Job is God-fearing?
10
Have you not surrounded him and his family and all that he has with your protection? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his livestock are spread over the land.
11
But now put forth your hand and touch anything that he has, and surely he will blaspheme you to your face."
12
And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand upon his person." So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
13
And so one day, while his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their eldest brother,
14
a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the asses grazing beside them,
15
and the Sabeans carried them off in a raid. They put the herdsmen to the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."
16
While he was yet speaking, another came and said, "Lightning has fallen from heaven and struck the sheep and their shepherds and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you."
17
While he was yet speaking, another came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three columns, seized the camels, carried them off, and put those tending them to the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."
18
While he was yet speaking, another came and said, "Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their eldest brother,
19
when suddenly a great wind came across the desert and smote the four corners of the house. It fell upon the young people and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you."
20
Then Job began to tear his cloak and cut off his hair. He cast himself prostrate upon the ground,

and said, "Naked I came forth from my mother's womb, and naked shall I go back again. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD!"

In all this Job did not sin, nor did he say anything disrespectful of God.

Cui dixit Dominus: "Unde venis?". Qui respondens ait: "Circuivi terram et perambulavi eam".

Dixitque Dominus ad eum: "Numquid considerasti servum meum Iob, quod non sit ei similis in terra, homo simplex et rectus ac timens Deum et recedens a malo?".

Cui respondens Satan ait: "Numquid Iob frustra timet Deum?
10
Nonne tu vallasti eum ac domum eius universamque substantiam per circuitum, operibus manuum eius benedixisti, et possessio eius crevit in terra?
11
Sed extende paululum manum tuam et tange cuncta, quae possidet, nisi in faciem benedixerit tibi".
12
Dixit ergo Dominus ad Satan: "Ecce, universa, quae habet, in manu tua sunt; tantum in eum ne extendas manum tuam". Egressusque est Satan a facie Domini.
13
Cum autem quadam die filii et filiae eius comederent et biberent vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,
14
nuntius venit ad Iob, qui diceret: "Boves arabant, et asinae pascebantur iuxta eos;
15
et irruerunt Sabaei tuleruntque eos et pueros percusserunt gladio, et evasi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi".
16
Cumque adhuc ille loqueretur, venit alter et dixit: "Ignis Dei cecidit e caelo et ussit oves puerosque consumpsit, et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi".
17
Sed et illo adhuc loquente, venit alius et dixit: "Chaldaei fecerunt tres turmas et invaserunt camelos et tulerunt eos necnon et pueros percusserunt gladio, et ego fugi solus, ut nuntiarem tibi".
18
Adhuc loquebatur ille, et ecce alius intravit et dixit: "Filiis tuis et filiabus vescentibus et bibentibus vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,

repente ventus vehemens irruit a regione deserti et concussit quattuor angulos domus; quae corruens oppressit liberos tuos, et mortui sunt, et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi".

Tunc surrexit Iob et scidit vestimenta sua et, tonso capite, corruens in terram adoravit

et dixit: "Nudus egressus sum de utero matris meae et nudus revertar illuc. Dominus dedit, Dominus abstulit; sicut Domino placuit, ita factum est: sit nomen Domini benedictum".

In omnibus his non peccavit Iob labiis suis neque stultum quid contra Deum locutus est.

Había en el país de Us un hombre llamado Job; era un varón perfecto que temía a Dios y se alejaba del mal.

Tuvo siete hijos y tres hijas.
3.
Tenía muchos servidores y poseía siete mil ovejas, tres mil camellos, quinientas yuntas de bueyes y quinientas burras. Este hombre era el más famoso entre todos los hijos de oriente.
4.
Sus hijos acostumbraban a celebrar banquetes por turno, en casa de cada uno de ellos, e invitaban también a sus tres hermanas a comer y beber con ellos.
5.
Una vez terminados los días de esos banquetes, Job los mandaba a llamar para purificarlos; se levantaba muy temprano y ofrecía sacrificios por cada uno de ellos, pues decía: 'Puede que mis hijos hayan pecado y ofendido a Dios en su corazón.
Así hacía Job.

Un día, cuando los hijos de Dios vinieron a presentarse ante Yavé, apareció también entre ellos Satán.
7.
Yavé dijo a Satán: '¿De dónde vienes?' Satán respondió: 'Vengo de la tierra, donde anduve dando mis vueltas.
8.
Yavé dijo a Satán: '¿No te has fijado en mi servidor Job? No hay nadie como él en la tierra. Es un hombre bueno y honrado, que teme a Dios y se aparta del mal.
9.
Satán respondió: '¿Acaso Job teme a Dios sin interés?'
10.
¿No lo has rodeado de un cerco de protección a él, a su familia y a todo cuanto tiene? Has bendecido el trabajo de sus manos y sus rebaños hormiguean por el país.
11.
Pero extiende tu mano y toca sus pertenencias. Verás si no te maldice en tu propia cara.
12.
Entonces dijo Yavé a Satán: 'Te doy poder sobre todo cuanto tiene, pero a él no lo toques. Y Satán se retiró de la presencia de Yavé.
13.
Un día los hijos y las hijas de Job estaban comiendo y bebiendo en casa del hermano mayor.
14.
Vino un mensajero y le dijo a Job: 'Tus bueyes estaban arando y las burras pastando cerca de ellos.
15.
De repente aparecieron los sabeos y se los llevaron y a los servidores los pasaron a cuchillo. Sólo yo pude escapar para traerte la noticia.
16.
Todavía estaba hablando, cuando llegó otro que dijo: 'Cayó del cielo fuego de Dios y quemó completamente a las ovejas y sus pastores. Sólo escapé yo para anunciártelo.
17.
Aún no terminaba de hablar, cuando entró un tercero, diciendo: 'Los caldeos, divididos en tres grupos, se lanzaron sobre tus camellos, se los llevaron, dieron muerte a espada a tus mozos y sólo yo he escapado para anunciártelo.
18.
Estaba éste contando lo sucedido cuando un último lo interrumpió, diciendo: 'Tus hijos e hijas estaban comiendo y bebiendo vino en casa del mayor de ellos.
19.
De repente sopló un fuerte viento del desierto y sacudió las cuatro esquinas de la casa; ésta se derrumbó sobre los jóvenes y han muerto todos. Sólo yo pude escapar para traerte la noticia.
20.
Entonces Job se levantó y rasgó su manto. Luego, se cortó el pelo al rape, se tiró al suelo y, echado en tierra,
21.
empezó a decir:
'Desnudo salí del seno de mi madre, desnudo allá volveré. Yavé me lo dio, Yavé me lo ha quitado, ¡que su nombre sea bendito!'

En todo esto no pecó Job ni dijo nada insensato en contra de Dios.
