French repertoire holds a special place in the heart of Benjamin Bernheim, one of the leading tenors of the new generation of singers. Bernheim’s list of recent performances, including the Opéra National de Bordeaux, underline his status as the opera world’s brightest rising star. His Deutsche Grammophon debut album, in which he is accompanied by the Prague Philharmonia under the baton of Emmanuel Villaume, captures the central roles in his current Romantic repertoire, including Massenet’s aria from “Werther“. Recorded live in November of 2019 at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, “Pourquoi me réveiller, ô souffle du printemps?“ from Act III of Jules Massenet’s “Werther“ features the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine under the baton of Oleksandr Yankevych.
